Deep Sea Treasure

Home / Academy 31 / Deep Sea Treasure

During Academy 31, God showed me two very important things… During the first week, He showed me that His way is often through deep waters.  {Trials, decisions, pressure, problems…}

The crash of your thunder was in the whirlwind; your lightnings lighted up the world; the earth trembled and shook.  Your way was through the sea, your path through the great waters; yet your footprints were unseen.  You led your people like a flock… Psalm 77:18-20  For He commanded and raised the stormy wind, which lifted up the waves of the sea…their courage melted away…they were at their wits’ end.  Psalm 107:25-27

Imagine it.  The dark, frothy waters…icy cold.  Can you hear the deep cracks of thunder amid the stormy gusts of wind? Flashes of light seem to just illumine the terror of the night…and yet this is HIS PATH!  Then I ask, “God, where are you?!  Why are you letting me drown?”

Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and He delivered them from their distress.  He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed… Psalm 107:23-30

Behold, I go forward, but he is not there…on the left when he is working, I do not behold him…But he knows the way that I take; when he has tried me, I shall come out as gold… He is unchangeable, and who can turn him back?  What he desires, that he does.  For he will complete what he appoints for me, and many such things are in his mind.  Job 23:8-14

“Ah, my child,” He says to me, “Do you think I have forgotten you?  The one who I have bought with the death of my Son’s priceless life?  No, I will not leave or forsake you, Cherith.  I have great plans for you.  Plans for good and not evil.”

Through one of the speakers messages in the second week, He showed me that instead of fighting the “rushing flood waters”, that I should actually JUMP into the wave!

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you… He who calls you is faithful; He will surely do it.  1 Thessalonians 5:16-24

Why should I worry or fight about what He wants to do in my life?  He who calls me IS FAITHFUL!  It’s my job to rejoice that He is bringing me through the refining process.  I must be grateful for the hardships.  I must give thanks for the pain.  God loves sacrifices of praise.

Do not be anxious for anything… Philippians 4:6

Even when I don’t understand…

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.  Proverbs 3:5-6  Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow…I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.  Psalm 23:4

I am so grateful for all God taught me while I was at A31.  It really was a rich time of bonding with one another, sharing from our hearts, crying, laughing, and growing in the knowledge of God.  What memories we have that will last a lifetime….and what a challenge I now have of jumping into today’s stormy sea.
