“Seek the Lord while He may be found,
Call upon Him while He is near.
Let the wicked forsake his way,
And the unrighteous man his thoughts;
Let him return to the Lord,
And He will have mercy on him;
And to our God,
For He will abundantly pardon.”

{how stupid it is that I would ever forget this simple thing. seeking God.}

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts.”

{No kidding. I’ll say….}

“Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!”

{Yup. Pretty much. He *still* keeps confounding me with His ways. But it’s all good – by His definition, at least, and I’m good with that.}

“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,
And do not return there,
But water the earth,
And make it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower
And bread to the eater,
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”

{Did you get that? Seriously. Read it again. ahhhhh…..so cool}

“For you shall go out with joy,
And be led out with peace;
The mountains and the hills
Shall break forth into singing before you,
And all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress tree,
And instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree;
And it shall be to the Lord for a name,
For an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.”

{Redemption. The most beautiful thing ever. Beauty for ashes, oil of joy for mourning. Ugliness and horror taken and redeemed for good and made lovely. He makes all things new. He can restore; He can redeem.}

{Ya know, I just kinda want to skip to the end already and go to heaven and stay there forever. Copout, I know. Pain before gain. But I’m just sayin’.}

{but there’s beauty for now. Not just for There – for Here, too.}

“For thus says the High and Lofty One
Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy:
“I dwell in the high and holy place,
With him who has a contrite and humble spirit,
To revive the spirit of the humble,
And to revive the heart of the contrite ones.”

Everyone was given a card and told on one side to write three very practical ways we wanted to take home what we learned at Academy31. On the other side we wrote "Yes Sweat" as a reminder that making changes in life takes hard work, but it's so worth it!

For “on this one will I look:
On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit,
And who trembles at My word.”

{yes. Beauty now. The beauty of His presence. One thing I have desired: not to be rich and famous, not to do great and mighty things, not even to get the laundry finished….one thing: that I may behold His beauty.}

For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live
Though Jordan above me should roll
No pang shall be mine,
For in death, as in life,
Thou shalt whisper Thy peace to my soul.

{He restores souls. He grants peace. He is beauty. That’s why we seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near. And yes, despite His ways being fast finding out, He will be found by those who seek Him. He is a God who is near.}

– – – – –

Just some thoughts I had this morning from talking with God that I wanted to share with you. But don’t take my word for it – go talk to Him yourself. And listen to Him (through His Word, guided by the Holy Spirit). Cause He’s there. And the stuff He says is hands-down better than anything else you’ll hear, I promise. Seeking Him is so worth it. Go, look for Him, and see the beauty that He is.

Word of God, speak

would you pour down like rain?

washing my eyes to see Your majesty

To be still and know that You’re in this place

please let me stay and rest in Your holiness
